PCM - what is it?
The abbreviation PCM stands for Pulse Code Modulation.
- It is a specific pulse modulation method.
- Often the PCM is an uncompressed data format is understood.
- Through the PCM process, an analog Signal is converted into a digital Signal.
- In this case a time arises from the time-continuous signal discrete signal sequence.
- PCM describes, in effect, the structure of an uncompressed audio file.
- So is the Format .pcm raw data. Also .wav or .au are uncompressed PCM audio formats.
