SSD storage - Faster disks with no rotating storage
The term SSD is an abbreviation and stands for "Solid State Drive". In German it is also sometimes called "semiconductor disk".
- It is an electronic storage medium. For SSD storage, Flash-based memory chips and SDRAMs are used.
- Due to the very fast access times, and their robust structure and their silence, are SSD preferred disks over traditional magnetic storage drives.
- The prices are more expensive than for the conventional storage media, however, in the meantime, affordable.
- As already mentioned, SSD storage media is silent. They have no moving components and can, therefore, generate no noise.
- Particularly in mobile devices, SSD storage is becoming more and more used. In comparison to the flash memory requirements of SSD storage, in addition to his already-mentioned examples, hardly cooling.
