In this practical tip we will explain to you what it is in the case of a SSD. SSD is an acronym and stands for the hard disk type "Solid State Drive". We will explain to you the peculiarities of these drives.

SSD storage - Faster disks with no rotating storage

The term SSD is an abbreviation and stands for "Solid State Drive". In German it is also sometimes called "semiconductor disk".
  • It is an electronic storage medium. For SSD storage, Flash-based memory chips and SDRAMs are used.
  • Due to the very fast access times, and their robust structure and their silence, are SSD preferred disks over traditional magnetic storage drives.
  • The prices are more expensive than for the conventional storage media, however, in the meantime, affordable.
  • As already mentioned, SSD storage media is silent. They have no moving components and can, therefore, generate no noise.
