Onboard graphics card: What is it?
Whether Mac or Windows, Desktop or Laptop, each Computer has an Onboard graphics card. This is an often very minimalist equipped graphics card.
- Since the Onboard graphics card performance is in General rather weak, many of the current Computer is also a second, more powerful graphics card. This, however, is not directly integrated in the PC, but is installed as additional Hardware in the Computer and a driver installed. The small Onboard video card is already "on Board" of your computer, and thus fixed on the Mainboard has been mounted (see the picture).
- No longer does your main graphics card, or an error occurs with the driver, you would normally see nothing more on your Computer. In this case, the Onboard is required-video card and a jump directly.
- In order to save battery in a Notebook, many manufacturers use a specific driver that automatically switches between the two graphics cards. For simple Office and Internet applications the Notebook, using the Onboard card, which makes a longer battery life noticeable. In the case of graphics-intensive Games or Videos, the driver will automatically switch to the stronger graphics card.
- You open your Computer and look for the Onboard video card, you will not at first view find. In contrast to a proper graphics card, it is only a small built-in graphics processor in the Chip Form. A proper video card is much larger.
