To connect speakers to your PS4
First of all: Since the Sony Playstation 4 is connected via a HDMI connection to your TV, the speaker system for home theater, of course, directly with your TV-connecting to a device. A direct speaker connection is only needed if you want to use for the image on a Computer Monitor.
- The PS4 can be controlled via a digital optical cable (TOSLINK cable) directly with the speakers to connect. This is not included and costs, depending on the length of about 10 euros.
- This cable is plug in the optical Audio output of your PlayStation 4 at the back next to the HDMI port.
- The other end connect with the digital Audio input of your speaker that looks exactly like the already connected to the Audio output on the PS4.
- If your speakers are like the most Active systems do not have a digital Audio connection, you will need a Toslink mini-plug Adapter for the Jack connection. This costs you between 4 and 8 euros.
- Note: Many Audio equipment without digital Audio input can be output to the optical fiber connection, the Jack connection. The Toslink mini plug Adapter, thus, leads not necessarily to success.
To change the Sound settings of your Playstation 4
- Select in the menu of your PS4, first, the Option "Sound and screen".
- Then click on the "audio output settings".
- There you choose the "Primary output port".
- And finally, select "DIGITAL OUT (OPTICAL)".
