MBR – all information at a Glance
- Primary partitions With MBR, 4 primary partitions you can create.
- Max. Partition size: the maximum size of the partition 2 may be TB.
- Max. Disk size: the maximum size of the hard disk must not be more than 2 TB.
- Safety: For safety, there is a data sector, with the associated checksum, which identifies the disk uniquely.
- Partition name: Depending on the file system is stored, the name directly in the Partition. As a result, this directly be identified.

Comparison: GPT vs. MBR
GPT – all the information
- Primary partitions: on Windows, you have the option of 128 primary partitions to create.
- Max. Partition size: In the GPT, the maximum partition size is a whopping 18 exabytes.
- Max. Hard drive size: hard-disk should be in GPT to a maximum of 18 exabytes in size.
- Security: security multiple data sectors (partitions) and checksums, and Backup sectors are provided. These Backup sectors to help in an emergency.
- Partition name: This is a GUID (global is-made unique ID), followed by a 36-character partition names. Thus, the Partition, and the disks can be clearly identified.
