Atheros Client - why do you need him?

The Atheros Client is a program for the use of the Hardware vendor of the same name. We will tell you whether you need the Client and how you in case of problems, reinstall.

What is the Atheros Client is and what you need him?

The company Atheros manufactures Computer Hardware. Including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Ethernet adapters are mainly located.
  • Function: The Atheros Client ensures that the network Adapter can be used by the manufacturer, Atheros Windows. So your Computer is able to connect to the Internet. The program is not mandatory, if the connection to the Internet works at the moment too. With this, the connection can be configured, however.
  • Caution: Uninstall the "Atheros Client Installation program" or other programs which contain the name "Atheros". This is usually the driver, without which the Hardware does not work anymore.
  • Installed Hardware: to check whether you have installed Hardware by Atheros, you need to open up the device Manager. Simultaneously press the keys "Windows" and "R", type "devmgmt.msc" and confirm your input with "Enter". Under "network adapters" you can now see whether a Hardware from Atheros is installed (see picture). In this case, an Ethernet is built-in Adapter of Atheros. With this Internet connection can be established using a LAN cable.
  • If you have uninstalled the program and now have problems, read the next paragraph for how to install the Client again.

Atheros Client install or repair

To reinstall the Atheros client can help with connection problems. The manufacturer provides on his site , unfortunately, only information about the Hardware. The associated driver, you will not find here, unfortunately. However, this is usually still on your hard drive.
  1. The program is not uninstalled in this practice tip, as this under your Version of Windows works.
  2. The driver is hiding somewhere on your hard drive. In a folder with the name "driver" or "Driver" you should be able to find. Are you looking for a folder called "Atheros", "LAN", "wifi" or "Bluetooth".
  3. You have found the correct folder, you will find there an installation file. This heist, mostly "Setup.exe". Open this and follow the instructions.
  4. After a restart you can start the Atheros Client and under "Profile Management" click "New" button.
  5. You name the network and enter in the input field "SSID" is the IP address of the router. This is usually below the device.
  6. Select the encryption to the best, "WPA2", if your Router supports this Standard. Then click on "Configure" and "OK".
  7. The access to the Internet should now work again.
