Whatsapp: Old Chats to Android phone

Before you transfer the chat, you should perform on the old phone, doing a manual backup of WhatsApp Chats. To do this, proceed as follows:
  1. Open Whatsapp and select the top right of the menu "settings".
  2. In the category of "chat" you find the "Chat Backup".
  3. Tap on the "Save" Button to save the current Chat history.
  4. By clicking on "Backup chat history" is created by a manual backup.
  5. Tip: you can Use the Chat Backup via Google Drive, you will have nothing more to do. In the next paragraph, we will show you how to transfer the locally stored Backup manually.

WhatsApp Chats to new Android phone transfer

  • The local Chat Backup is on your Android phone in the folder "WhatsApp/Databases". This is located either in local memory or on the SD card. The Backup is named "msgstore.db.crypt".
  • Connect the phone via USB cable to the PC, you can copy the file on the Computer, and then to the new phone. Alternatively, you can use a file Manager such as ES file Explorer directly on the phone to access the file and this via email, Bluetooth or Cloud storage on the new phone send.
  • Then install WhatsApp on the new phone, but start the App yet. You will have to copy the "msgstore.db.crypt" in the folder "WhatsApp/Databases".
  • Then you can start WhatsApp and re-register. The Chat Backup is then detected automatically and, at your request, recorded.
