So on Android, not every notification is an App is also a sound, you can switch individual Apps mute. This is either directly via the relevant App, or a clever add-on Tool. We show how to exactly proceed.

Android-App-to-mute - so it goes in the App itself

  1. First, open the App you want to mute, for example WhatsApp.
  2. Then tap the three dots in the upper right and go to the "settings".
  3. Then go to "notifications".
  4. Now you need to remove the check mark for "message tones" and the "notification sound" to "None". After that, the App makes no noise when a new message arrives.
  5. For most Apps, this approach is similar to that.

Individual Apps switch by means of a Tool to mute

However, since not every App allows that you switch it to mute, you can also go the detour via specific Tools:
  1. Such a program is, for example,"Light Flow".
  2. The item "Notifications" you can select the App for which you want a new sound profile.
  3. Then tap the tab "Sound". There, you can either put a check in the "Enable Sound" or remove it.
  4. For an even more precise configuration, we recommend the App "Tasker".
  5. More information about the App, you get in the CHIP Guide.
