USB Stick: unable to Format
Some USB drives have a mechanical Lock function. Check the Stick on a switch and set this to the open lock. This is not the case, try it with the following instructions:
- Download the free "HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool" download and run the executable file with a double click. Note: you May need to start the Tool with administrator rights. To do this, click with the right mouse button on the file and select "run As Administrator".
- Connect the Stick to your PC and open the program. Choose your Stick - if not already done - in the "Device".
- As a file system (File System) you can choose FAT 32 or NTFS. The differences we will explain in this practical tip.
- Under "Volume Label", enter your USB-Stick any name and put a check in "Quick Format".
- Now click to "Start" the formatting, and confirm the security question with "Yes".
- After formatting, the USB Stick should work perfectly. If not, there may be a Defect in your memory Stick.
