What is a Swap Partition?
Swap means exchange, among other things, also in this case, it is the exchange of data.
- All active programs of the computer are stored in the memory, so the access is correspondingly fast.
- You have opened, however, only little RAM in your Computer and too many programs, these will be outsourced in the so-called Swap-Partition on the disk. In Windows, the Swap is referred to Partition as a "swap file".
- However, the cost of Back and Forth of data, unnecessary time and slows down the Computer, to be provided so that it is always the computer with sufficient RAM.
