Tags and categories: What are Tags?
- The term "Tags" (pronounced [täks]) comes from English and means "tag" or "label".
- On the Internet Tags are used to categorize content and topics.
- The categorization is used in this case to the consumer. Because of this you can find content or of the content.
- According to one example this becomes clearer: A Blogger writes a Text on "the use of Tablets in everyday life". To do this, he used the Tags "Tablet", "everyday" and "technology". As a reader you can find this Text on the basis of the Tags using the search function and know at the same time directly to the topic of the article.
- In the age of the ongoing Internet boom, every day, countless new articles, pictures and Videos. These can be found in search engines only if the content associated with keywords. The relevance of the Tags is therefore of the Hand.
- Tags and Hashtags are not to be equated. The basic function appears to be similar, but refer to Hashtags in the Twitter & co. are not necessarily on the content itself but rather to the addressee or the opinion to the content.
