Prerequisite: PSP-2000 and Firmware Version 3.90
To be able to Skype on your PlayStation Portable, there is no separate Download is necessary. The Software is Version 3.90 is already part of the Firmware.
- Note, however, that you must either have a PSP-2000, PSP-3000 or PSP-N1000 (PSPgo). On the PSP-1000 Skype does not work.
- In addition, you will need to have a suitable Headset (PSP-270) and headphone with remote control (PSP-S140 series) or USB microphone (PSP-240). The owner of a PSPgo can also use a Bluetooth Headset.
- A Memory Stick Duo with at least 1 MByte of free disk space is also required.

- If you want to use on your PSP to an older Firmware Version than 3.90 and use Skype, you must first carry out a Firmware Update. Alternatively, you can Version 6.60 here, download and install it manually.
Skype set up on your PlayStation portable
The Set up of Skype on your PSP is simple and only requires a few steps:
- Turn on your PSP and the Wi-Fi reception.
- In the Home menu, navigate to "network" and then select "Skype".
- You already have a Skype account, select on "Register". Otherwise, select "New Skype account create". More comfortable, it is, however, the Skype account on your PC to create.
- To log in, enter your Skype name and password in the appropriate fields. Then select the "Log in".

After you have logged in successfully, you can use Skype on your PSP.
- Under the "My profile" you can view the information on your user profile and change it.
- Under "contacts", you can select from saved contacts and call.
- If you want to add a new contact, select "contacts" and press the triangle button.
- In the "event log" you will find an Overview of outgoing and incoming calls.
- With "Select" you can call a landline or a mobile number (Skype credit required).
- You want to call a Skype user, select the button "Select" and then press the triangle. After that, select "Skype name" and type the appropriate user name.
- In the "actions" menu you find the sub-item "settings". There you can change the settings for privacy and sound as well as the Port for incoming Connections to change.
- Under the "actions" → "My account" you can use your Skype credit and voice to retrieve messages, information about SkypeIn view, the call is active forwarding and change your password.
- Under the "actions" → "Blocked contacts" to manage the Skype user to manage that you have marked as blocked.
