- Some of the newer Kindle devices, you can not completely turn off. Press the Power Button, you will be offered here, only the switching Off of the screen. The devices can therefore only be in Standby to enable.
- You want to force it to turn Off or restart, press and hold for about 20 seconds the Power Button on the Kindle down. Then the eBook should switch off the Reader by itself. If nothing happens, press and hold the button for 30 seconds. Also, a short Recharge can help.
- All this helps nothing, you can only wait until the battery goes out by itself. Kindle devices the 1. and 2. Generation can still be quite easy to open, so you can remove the battery. Here, however, you will lose any warranty claims.

The Problem occurs often, there is likely to be a Problem in the Software. In this case, a restore to factory settings helps:
- Connect your Kindle first power. For this you need a battery-level of at least 40 percent.
- Tap on the top right Gear icon, so that you can go to the "settings".
- Select the Option "More" and then the category "device".
- Tap the Option "reset To factory settings" and confirm the operation with "device reset".
- The Kindle will now reboot. All content will be deleted. This process can take several minutes.
