IRC Chat using mIRC create
To be able to the Internet Relay Chat, in need of both you and your chat partner Client. For this, the mIRC program - the free trial version in our download area download. Of course you can use any IRC Client to use, for example, the Freeware "XChat".
- After you have successfully registered, go to the tab at the top of the edge on "File" and select "New Server". In the dialog box, do one of the major IRC Server, such as Foonetic, EFnet, QuakeNet or Undernet. A list of the 100 largest Networks, you can find here.
- In the case of mIRC, and many other IRC Clients, some servers are pre-configured already. If you want to use a different network, click "Add". In doing so, you will need to enter the Hostname along with the Port itself.
- Example: For the IRC-Network "indymedia.org" is the Hostname "irc.indymedia.org" with the Port 6667. This information, if you are in the server list the desired Network click.
- Once this is done, click on the small lightning on the top left to the Server to connect to (see image gallery below).
- In the new Server, enter the following command: "/join #new-channel". You can replace "new channel" with a name of your choice for your chat channel. Now you have created a new IRC Channel.
- If your friends follow the same steps, you will reach in the Channel.
IRC Chat register and provided with a password
To be able to a Channel and thus permanently register as a user, you need first of all a registered user name. You can obtain this, if you make a connection with the Serverbot contact. In our example, we will be able to communicate in the Foonetic Network with the Bot "ChanServ".
- To register your user name, enter in the chat line "/msg NickServ REGISTER". An authentication code will be sent to your mail address. This you need to include in the next command "/msg NickServ AUTH". You have registered your nick name permanently.
- Important: Before you can create a Channel, you first need to sign under your nick name. You do this by typing in the chat line the command "/msg NickServ IDENTIFY".
- To register your Channel now, there is a simple command, "/msg ChanServ REGISTER #IhrChannel". It is important, before your channel name, the hash copy.
- You can add to your Channel now also with a password: To do this, use the command "/msg ChanServ SET ".
Commands in other IRC Networks
Other Server, other customs! Any large IRC network has to communicate its own Server-Bots, with whom you differ. Fortunately, most of the networks offer a FAQ page where the most important commands are explained. While you are in QuakeNet, for example, with Q talk, you must use the ChanServ from Foonetic again very different response. The IRCnet has its own set of rules - just search the Internet to find the Commands for your favorite server.
Are you even familiar with IRC, it offers plenty of space for gizmos. Thanks to a number of useful, but also funny commands , the Chat experience is never boring.
