After Effects: Loops - repeat animations

In Adobe After Effects, you can repeat the animations with the so-called Loops. In this practical tip we will show you how this effect can apply.

Loop in After Effects setting – so it works

  1. Start After Effects and drag the Video into the program, which you want to add to the effect.
  2. By using the key combination [Ctrl] + [Shift] + [C] create a so-called sub-composition of the Videos.
  3. The existing attributes, you can then simply Drag&Drop them onto the new composition and apply it.
  4. You make the connection, right-click the Video and select "time" > "time distortion".
  5. Press and hold the [Alt] key pressed and then click the stopwatch.
  6. An input box will appear. Enter the command "loopOut(type="cycle")" and confirm with "OK".
  7. As a result, the specified Video will be repeated permanently. With the command "loopOut(type="pingpong")" the Video is alternately in the Forward and backward movement is repeated.
  8. The end point of the video, you have to pull then back, in order to generate the so-called Loop.
