Preparation: Windows Registry backup
When restoring something goes wrong, you should restore the Registry. To do this, you need to back it up first though:

Factory settings for Powerpoint restore
The default settings of the Office to produce Software, you need to delete two Registry folders:
- You can open the start menu and type "run" into the search field. In Windows 8, tap "run" while you are on the home page. Click the same search result. Alternatively, the key combination [Windows] + [R] is sufficient.
- Enter the command "regedit" in the new window and confirm with [Enter]. You may have to confirm a security prompt.
- Locate and open the path "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\xxx" and "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\xxx". Instead of "xxx" select for Powerpoint 2003 the folder "11.0" for Office 2007, the folder "12.0", Powerpoint 2010, select "14.0", and for 2013 the folder "15.0".
- You can navigate through the structure by expanding the folder with the small arrow to the left. Finally, click in the appropriate folder with the right mouse button on "Powerpoint" and select the Option "Delete". Confirm the security question with "Yes".
- If you have deleted both folders, you can close the registry. You now start Powerpoint, reset the settings to the factory condition.
