Mac OS X: hard drive rename

Connected storage media, such as external hard drives, you can rename your Mac. We will show how to do this best.

Name of hard drives on the Mac

To renaming there are different ways that work equally quickly and easily.
  1. Connect the drive to your Mac and open the Finder.
  2. The memory is displayed on the left under "devices".
  3. You make a right click on the hard drive and select the Option "rename ..." (see image).
  4. Type the new name in the text field and press "Enter".
  5. Mac OS X renames the hard disk after a few moments.

In some cases, the Option to Rename is not displayed immediately. Here, proceed as follows:
  1. You can also right-click on the icon of the plate.
  2. Select "Information".
  3. Go to the menu "Name & Suffix". Here you can type in a new name.
  4. By closing the information window, the Changes are applied.
