Mac: Local Backups disable

The local Mac Backups, you can disable it with a simple Terminal command. So you get back a lot of memory space, the the created Backups are taking.

To turn off the Mobile Backups

  • You start the Terminal.
  • Now enter the following command: "sudo tmutil disable local".
  • You may be asked for your Administrator password. Enter it then.
  • Finally, restart your Computer.
  • If you change your mind later, you can turn the local Backups back: "sudo tmutil enable local".
To further save space you a by delete duplicate files.
