iMac: hard drive swap - The preparations

After all the preparations are made and all materials have been purchased, you can continue with the replacement of the hard drive.
- You place first, your iMac with the back on a flat surface and then attach two suction lifter in the upper corners of the display.
- Lift the Display panel so the Display that the metal pins on the underside of the top edge of the solve.
- Drag the pane of glass and place them carefully in a safe place, for example, in the original packaging of the iMac. After you have stored the disc, the suction lifter, the other the constant voltage if the Display can destroy.
- Then remove the eight T10 screws that connect the Display and the housing to each other.

- Now, the tweezers is used. You pull on the cable of the vertical synchronization at the upper left corner of the iMac and remove it from the LED Board. It is also possible that instead of a cable, four thin cables are available. In this case, you must disconnect this cable from the Board, but all the more careful because this cable can very easily go broken.
- Now you need to lift the Display so far from the housing that you can disconnect the cable from the LED-background lighting from the LED Board.
- You can then remove the display cable from the Logic Board. Press the Pins on the cable slightly and you pull the plug out of the connector. Here, too, the following applies: caution is the top priority, because both connector as well as connector are very sensitive.
- Now lift up the Display a bit further, to disconnect the temperature sensor cable from the Logic Board.
- Now that all the cables are connected to the Display, removed or disconnected, you can lift the Display from the housing by pulling it in the direction of the upper edge of the housing and then out of this lift.
- It is important that you remember the orientation of the just remote temperature sensor. You build it later in the wrong direction, it would lead to problems with the fan.
- You can then put the hard drive, by the plug of the temperature sensor, SATA power cable and SATA-to move data cable from the connectors on the hard disk and remove.
- Now it's, the T10 screws, the case and hard drive connect with each other to solve.
- After the disk is now exposed, you can turn to these easily from the housing, of the two lower brackets of the lift, and then remove it.
- On the removed hard disk drive remove the two T8 screws that connect the bracket and hard disk drive, and then remove the bracket.
- From the other side of the hard disk, you can remove the Pins.
- Finally, you should remove the EMI foam from the front of the old hard drive.
