Dashboard in Mac OS X disable - how it works

With Mac OS X 10.4, Apple introduced the Dashboard. How you can disable the Dashboard, we show you in this guide.

The Dashboard allows you to uninstall, but at least with a simple Terminal command to disable.
  1. To do this, start the Terminal. Search search it's best in the Spotlight.
  2. Now enter in the Terminal window, type the command "defaults write com.apple.dashboard mcx-disabled -boolean YES" without the quotes and confirm the entry with the Enter key.
  3. Then run the command "killall Dock". Now, the Dashboard is disabled and is not loaded after a reboot.
  4. If you want to enable it again, you need to simply type the command "defaults write com.apple.dashboard mcx-disabled -boolean NO" and "killall Dock" to enter. Then you can access the Dashboard.
