i7: Quad-core processor runs on only one core - what to do?

If your Intel Core-i7-processor runs only one instead of four cores, this can have various causes. In this practice tip, you will learn how to check the errors and fix them.

So, check the number of Windows used cores

Should you suspect that your i7 processor is only running on a core - for example, because you are with the Performance, unhappy - you should check First the number of actually used kernels:
  1. Press the key combination [Ctrl] + [Alt] + [Del] and select the "Task Manager".
